WEARING & STYLING HAIR WIGS

exciting guide to styling hair wigs!

A fine salon  or your favorite hair stylist
can help you learn how to properly
place your wig on your head so you
look your best. If you can not get to
your hair stylist, don’t worry, it is a
simple process! Begin with a nylon wig
cap to keep your wig comfortable and
stable on your head. Then, hold the
wig from the front and place it over
your head from  front to back. The two
wig tabs should be in front of the ears.
Your ears should be pulled out from
under the wig, like your own hair. Pull
the wig down in the back for a secure
fit, making sure that the front part of
the wig begins at your own hairline.
Trying these steps a few times will
make it a snap to put your wig on
properly.

A wig is made with plenty of extra hair.
You can trim and set your own,
however, it is recommended that you
allow your stylist to set and trim your
wig the first time. Wear your wig for the
cut & style. Natural looks can involve
bangs or wisps to obscure the hairline.
Shorter hair wig styles are less likely to
tangle and easier to manage. Once
you’ve achieved the particular look you
desire with your wig, maintain the wig
look with  day-to-day upkeep. Use a
wire wig brush or styling pick (regular
hairbrushes damage and stretch the
synthetics in wigs) and work gradually
from ends to roots.  Do not use heat
styling tools  such as blow dryers or
curling irons on synthetic wigs, but
standard rollers and pins are useful. If
you want to hold your style in place,
use light wig spray or low-alcohol
hairspray only. Never brush, pick,
comb or curl a wet wig unless you are
resetting it entirely.

You may want to change wig styles
often. As back up hairpieces, it’s nice
to have wig falls, bangs, ponytails and
other hairpieces on hand. Especially
when your favorite wig is being
washed. Or you might even want to
buy 4 or 5 affordable  wigs, rather than
one expensive hair wig. In fact, four or
five synthetic wigs can be set in
different styles, affording more
versatility without continuous hair
upkeep.
