Wigs and hairpieces have become
trendy in the fashion world. For most,
selecting a wig can be a tough
decision to make. To make the best
choice, read the facts on types of wigs
available:
Hair Wig Types: Synthetic Hair Wigs or
“Real Human Hair Wigs”
Synthetic and human hair wigs are
equally durable and can be matched to
your own hair color and preferred
look. Many women choose synthetic
wigs, since they are easier to
maintain, hold their set longer, dry
faster after washing, and are far less
expensive than “real human hair”
wigs. The quality of Hair synthetic
wigs vary from low-end quality to silky
high-end premium quality. At the same
time, human hair wigs offer a natural
feel and versatility; in fact, you can
reset as often as real hair and touch-
up using heat tools (i.e., curling irons,
blow dryers, etc.) that would not be
appropriate to use on a synthetic wig.
High quality human hair wigs can even
be re-dyed or permed. However, since
the added styling and maintenance
hours of work required for human hair
can become expensive and time
consuming. Many women prefer
instead to go “low maintenance” with
synthetic.
Construction: Machine-, Hand- or
Custom-Made Hair Wigs
Quality and construction is a key
factor in choosing any hair wig. A well-
constructed, machine-made synthetic
hair wig looks like your own hair and
offers comfortable features, like a
vented cap, at a reasonable price.
Many find well crafted synthetic hair
wigs perform better than some low
quality human hair wigs, it’s important
to know what you are getting in terms
of quality when you are shopping for
hair wigs. Superior-quality, hand-made
wigs may cost more, however, they
look even more natural, since strands
of hair are individually tied, allowing
the wig to be parted and styled with
hair accessories to suit your taste.
Top-of-the-line high quality wigs,
custom-made wigs — fit to your
precise specifications — are the
closest to your own hair type and
color, but cost a lot more and take
several months to make. Purchasing
your wig can be a gratifying
experience that may ultimately
transform your look. Be sure to
consider the quality, style, color and
length of the hair wig you desire
before ordering your wig.

Proper wig care and upkeep will help
your hair wig last for years. Also, your
wig will stay attractive and comfortable.
Here are some easy hair wig
maintenance tips:
Storing your wig:
When you take your hair wig out of the
package, store it on a wig stand (or
“head Styrofoam head form”) to keep
the wigs shape. Smooth out straight
hair or lift up the curls with a wire brush
or pick. Use a hair net to cover the hair
wig. This will holds the style without
matting. Don’t store your wig near heat
(radiators, vents), humidity (showers),
or dusty areas.
Washing your hair wig
Washing your hair wig depends on
how much you use your hair wig. A hair
wig should be washed approximately
6–8 wearings in warm weather or after
every 12–15 wearings in cooler
weather. Note: If you have an active
lifestyle, use heavy hairspray, or live in
a high humid or poor air quality
climate, you should wash your hair wig
at least once a week to remove excess
perspiration and dirt.
Before washing your hair wig, smooth
a straight wig or fluff a curly wig gently
and completely with a wire brush or
pick. Add a cap of wig shampoo or
baby shampoo to a basin of cool
(never hot) water. Immerse wig gently
and soak for two minutes. Rinse well
by swishing in clean, cool water.
Carefully squeeze out excess without
twisting. For extra shine and softness,
apply wig conditioner and leave on for
five minutes. Rinse again well in clean,
cool water. Carefully, squeeze out
excess without twisting.
Drying
After washing your hair wig, use your
fingers to tightly squeeze each curl on
curly styles while wig is still wet. On
both straight and curly styles, gently
towel blot to remove excess water. Let
wig air-dry on a clean, dry towel or a
wire head form that allows air
circulation. Do not set the wig stand
near heat or in direct sunlight. Never
use blow dryers or other heat
appliances on synthetic wigs. Also, be
sure not to comb, brush or pick a wet
wig unless you are completely
restyling it. As the wig dries, shake it
out periodically to speed drying. Once
fully dry, style normally.
Wearing
Once you feel comfortable wearing
your wig, it’s easy to go about your
daily activities. Please remember to
avoid high levels of heat — such as
quickly opening an oven door — on
synthetic wigs. SHOP OUR HAIR WIGS
