The Classic from Chanel  
If you like to think of yourself as a bit of a bag expert,
then you really need to know about this bag. The 2.55
from Chanel was first introduced in February 1955
(hence the 2.55) by the ever practical Coco Chanel,

To celebrate its 60th birthday, Chanel re introduced
the 2.55 last year with a special stamp inside. This
year it's available as the 'Classic' (without the stamp)
and will set you back ?860. But you can tell your bank

investment for your future. In fact, this bag is your
pension, so you'd be mad not to buy it.

The Fendi B   
We're still in love with the Fendi B - a year after its
launch - and it's growing on us more and more every
day. Even though it's been spotted swinging on the
arm of a WAG or two, don't let that put you off. This
bag is super stylish and set to become a future classic.

Marc Jacobs Stam   
One of the biggest sellers this year, the quilted leather
Stam comes in grey and patent for winter. It combines
high fashion status with a down-town street sensibility
in a way that only Marc Jacobs can do. When all the
fuss about quilting, chains and Chanel-ism's has died
down, you may have to put this one into store. But, like
everything else by 'grunge god' Jacobs, we predict
that in less than a decade you'll be able to smugly
resurrect this future heirloom as 'vintage Jacobs'.

The Paddington by Chlo?   
One of the world's most (badly) copied bags, we are
amazed that the Paddington is still one of the biggest
sellers in the land. Perhaps it's because of its
reasonable price tag. When many Chloé bags are
priced at around $1700, this one seems like a steal. In
fact it's so cheap you may even throw caution to the
wind and yell 'I'll take two!' Unfortunately, demand is
still so high that on net-a-porter, sales are restricted to

The Novak by Alexander McQueen   
Tired of pushy commuters crushing your slouchy Joni
bag on the tube? Then look to McQueen for the
answer. Never one to run with the tide, McQueen
introduced us to the steely Novak last winter. In a sea
of slouchy hobo style bags, it was definitely a welcome
alternative. This winter, as fashion finds its new
direction in sober tough girl looks, expect it to come
into its own as the perfect bag for urban warriors

Mulberry call the Bayswater their 'all rounder'. This is
their most covetable classic and a big hit with
celebrities like Kate Moss, who's often seen shopping

Popularised by celebrities like Paris Hilton, the Gaucho
is the bag on every fashion wannabee's wish list. Why
this style is so popular we cannot fathom, but promo
girls and Russian pop stars seem to be falling over

Just like last year's Fendi B, we suspect the Palazzo
will take a little time to grow on us. Its new bucket
shape is big news for bags this season and seems to
be the only real alternative to the oversize theme.
Ladybird by Stella McCartney   
Stella McCartney's Ladybird is the only designer bag
option that lets you be stylish, ethical and kind to
animals all at the same time. It's made from vinyl and is
sold in her wind-powered London store. So if you like
your moral compass to always point to 'holy-ier than
thou', then leave the Silverados to the sinners and buy

The Tekla is Chloé's latest response to the super-
sized trend, and for autumn 06 this bag ticks more

Gabriele Corto Moltedo is the talented son of the
founders of luxury brand Bottega Veneta. He launched
his own line in 2004 and combines high glamour with

Not suprisingly, he already has a following that
includes stylish celebrities like Jade Jagger, Dita Von
Teese and Liberty Ross, which is proof enough to us
